Frequently Asked Questions

Let's look at them together...

16. Why opt for a cartridge filter ?
The filtering of your pool is done more finely (between 10 and 15 microns, which is twice as fine as the sand filter).

However, using this process requires more regular maintenance on your part. On the positive side, no sewage connection is required and you use less chemicals and water. So it's a big saving.

17. When should I change my cartridge ?
We advise to change it every 2 to 5 years.

It all depends on the maintenance of your pool. The more you clean the cartridges, the longer they will last. One of the fundamental rules in this area is to clean the cartridge when the pressure gauge indicates + 0.7 bars. To help you, we suggest that you use the Easy Filter to remove lime, dirt and algae.

18. How many hours should I filter my pool ?

A little trick to calculate the duration is to halve the temperature of the water in your pool. In summary:

  • At 16 ° = 6h00
  • At 20 ° = 8h00
  • From 24 ° we advise you to filter between 8h00 and 12h00.

Tip: Filter during the day when the pool is occupied by bathers.

19. What is active wintering and passive wintering ?

Active wintering: In this case you keep the water filtration running in winter, but at a slower pace (2 to 3 hours per day). The water is constantly moving so the pump and piping do not freeze. Active wintering is also called semi-wintering or dynamic wintering.

Passive wintering: This consists of completely shutting down the machines in winter. We call it putting your pool to sleep. In this case it is necessary to empty the entire filtration circuit to prevent stagnant and frozen water. It is mandatory to cover your pool in this case to make sure that rainwater (or snow) do cause the water level to raise above the skimmers. Passive wintering is used when the water temperature is less than or equal to 12 degrees.

20. When is the best time to relaunch my pool after winter ?
Towards the end of March or the beginning of April.

We advise you to restart the filtration of your pool as soon as the temperature rises above 7 degrees to avoid the proliferation of bacteria.

21. What is a pool cover for? ?

To keep the temperature, to protect the swimming pool from all dirt and finally to secure it and avoid accidents.

22. What is a pool enclosure ?

It is a cover that protects the water and reduces the amount of water treatment product used. Thanks to the greenhouse effect, you can win up to 10 degrees. Like the cover, the shelter secures your pool as it meets the requirements the NF P 90309 standard, according to the law dating from December 2003.

23. How can I limit the energy consumption of my swimming pool ?

By limiting the loss of energy by building a technical room as close as possible to your swimming pool or about 10 to 20 meters from the edge. You can also install a solar cover which protects it from the weather and acts as an insulation. Make sure that the strength of your water pump is calculated correctly to avoid unnecessary consumption.

24. How many years of guarantee do you offer ?

At Waterair, your pool's warranty is 20 years (full and not declining), under certain conditions and 12 years for the liner.
A Waterair pool offers you quality, resistance, longevity of materials, expertise and the know-how of our team.

25. Are you doing pool renovations ?

Yes on Waterair pools but also concrete and ceramic pools.
More information in the services section of our website.

26. Can I install my technical room where I want?
No. It is advisable to place it on the side of the skimmer of your swimming pool, respecting a minimum distance of 3.50 meters.

If you don't have enough room, you can install this technical room in your garage or garden shed as long as it is not too far away. The further it is away, the more you need to increase the strength of your pump. As soon as the distance exceeds 20 meters, we suggest installing a technical room in the shape of a box, the ideal distance is 10 meters. If you don't have room, then you can bury the technical room, we have two options :

  • Locaroc 2, a technical room in the shape of a rock with a cartridge filtration system. Ideal distance between the Locaroc 2 and the skimmer is 7.5 meters
  • Locatec, a technical room with a shower tray and a sand filtration system
You will find more information about the different filtration systems on our web site.

27. What is the ideal location for my heat pump (PAC)?
We work with an "Air-Water" system, which means that the pump takes calories from the air to heat the water in your pool.

Your heat pump must be installed after your filter and must be outside. If you install it near a wall, you must keep a distance of 50 cm between the pump and the wall and leave 2 meters free in front of the pump. It is important not to move your heat pump too far from your swimming pool and technical room in order to avoid heat loss.

28. How to supply my technical room with electricity?
Using a 3G6 cable in a technical sheath 20 to 30 cm deep.

The power supply line in the technical room must be protected by a 30 mA differential on a 32 A circuit breaker. For this, it is best to call in a qualified professional to work on the general electrical panel.

29. Will my swimming pool be taxed?

It depends on the municipality where you live. It is best to check with an agent in your municipality. Some cities do not tax the pool.

30. Can I install a swimming pool in very wet ground?

No problem, but be sure to adapt the bottom soil with a so-called drainage circuit.
